Challenge
Establishing a sense of spaciousness in a compact 1,200 sq.ft. flat while accommodating a family of four and their extensive storage needs.
The Sharma family desired a home that felt like a quiet sanctuary away from the hustle of Bangalore. The primary challenge was the kitchen area, which was cramped and lacked natural light. They needed a design that would open up the space without compromising on the utility of an Indian household.
Solution
We implemented an open-plan layout for the kitchen and dining area, using a seamless 'L-shaped' modular kitchen with tall units to hide appliances. A palette of off-whites and light oak wood was used throughout to enhance reflected light.
Custom-built multi-functional furniture, including a hidden shoe rack and a study-cum-guest-bed, solved the storage issue while maintaining the Zen aesthetic. Smart dimmable lighting was integrated to allow for varied moods throughout the day.
